The Beginning
The club was started at the British Volkswagen Festival of 1991, in response to the growing number of transporter/camper owners. There was already a club for owners of split screen vans - the Split Screen Van Club - but no national club that included the bay or the wedge.
The club purpose is to support owners of all transporters and campers based on the Type 2 Volkswagen van chassis, helping them to keep their vans on the road. We -
- provide technical advice
- negotiate discounts with useful retailers
- organise camps and events
- negotiate deals with insurers
- provide insurance valuations
- provide some legal information on vehicles
For further details on what we do, please browse the website.
We will post the full Club Constitution and Rules here shortly.
Every year at the AGM, the members who attend vote for the Van of the Year. The van and its owners have to be part of the camp. The votes are announced at the end of the weekend and the presentation made by the President, Phil Shaw.

The Van of the Year prize being presented by the Club President, Phil Shaw, to Lenny Penfold, whose yellow and white Devon bay won the 2007 members' vote.

And here is the Van of the Year. Lenny wrote an excellent piece for the magazine about the work that went into restoring this lovely Bay van.
