I wonder how long it will be before the club gets a forum that is a} easy to use and b} one that members will want to use more than now. This is the biggest club with the smallest and worst forum around.... please bring it up to date for us all to use and enjoy a bit more. Philip Taylor

I agree, you have hit the nail on the head - it's embarassing for a national club to have a web site that is so out of date!

All the dates for shows/ camps are for 2009...and on one main page van of the year is 2007, we all know its now 2010, how crap is that...

Web sites are vital for all clubs, what a shop window this one is!!!!! Rex.B.

I can only agree it upsets so many of us that a national club can't have a proper forum like say club 80-90  which is superb.

Here's the link and spot the difference.

This was the proof this forum DOES NOT WORK. I did offer to help with the website / forum a year ago, no-one wants to know. Maybe time to call time on the club ??

Its not only frustrating for you the members who find the web site is not what it should be.As camping coordinators we cannot get this years camping diary put on.Its a complete shambles!!!Next comittee meeting we will bring the subject up but we have never really had a definative answer as to WHY it cannot be kept up to date.I can only assume that there is a technical reason why Clare has difficulties with it.

HI D&C i have found from Paul that the site is designed in asp,net web language. This is something that is totally alien to the nice and easy Dreamweaver i'm used to. I couldn't make head nore tale of it so i can see why Claire would have huge problems with it.

Personally it needs to be as simple to set up and maintain as possible which really means starting again. My web site is hosted by Hostpapa.

Although i'm still usingt my old Dreamweaver web software at present they offer their own web templates you simply log in and start. I'm currently working on a new site for my business using their software. I also get unlimited space all for £70 a year.

Hi David I have just been speaking to Rex & Natalie Bale. They have had contact with Clare & she cannot get the web site to respond. She is going to redesign web site but she can only devote time to this that her personal life allows. We are having a committee meeting on Ist weekend of March(2 day event) no doubt this will be top of the agenda. In the meantime the forum is the only way we can keep up to date. However coming across things posted in this way is also a hit & miss affair!!!Who ever manages the web would have the same problems its just not fit for purpose & needs a whole new re think. In the meantime members leave because of it & this gives the club less money to play with it so its a vicious circle. All we can hope is that members  have a bit of patience & perhaphs resort to the telephone if they need to ask the committee anything.See you soon Christie,Derek(daisy crew)

Thanks for the update Derek and Christie. My offer to the club still stands (from 2008-09)... to help redesign the website and forum... and to help bring the magazine and the website together so they look like the same organisation. Both the magazine and the website editors seemed interested then, both said they would forward me the operating systems for these, but none ever arrived. At the time I had plenty of time on my hands and I wanted to help make the club more accessible to the members.... I still want that. Someone get in touch !!!!

Excellent couple of threads. The web site should contain the magazine even if you have to click to view in pdf form.

I would love to help run and moderate a lively forum and have offered to host a facebook group or fan page. We need to branch out and without taking away from the site a facebook page could at least have information about our club leading people to the web site. The more we are out there the better.

We can not be to luddite or the club will stagnate and die. Because certain members are not on the web is no reason to branch out.

Well thats my opinion i just want this club to move forward and to start getting back to what it was formed for in the first place. aka to keep our vans on the road. Badgering suppliers to stock and manufacture parts we actually need not what they want to sell. I can't get half of the parts i need for my T25 i have to go 2nd hand or search all round the mulbery bush.

Over and out for now.

Sorry to hear Philip didn't get a reply but I must admit we very often don't either & we are on the comittee!!!The chairman(Paul) is on the case & so lets see how things progress. The A.G.M. is the best place to have a rant & rave about what is or is not up to scratch with any club so hope you will be there. Then we can get it all off our chests then sit down have a few bevvies its then we realise we would rather be in than out.Its the comradeship with like minded people that makes a club not some all singing/dancing website.Yes David the T25 is now a classic & securing parts is very important.!!!Good point that needs to be raised.Christie (half of Daisy Crew)

Please feel free to join in with these forums.  We put them on here for a reason - to keep members in touch around the country and the world, even when there are no camps planned.  Conversation does not have to revolve around the Club, vans, VW or anything else necessarily linked to the rest of the site.

However, we need to be sure that everyone knows the score.

Please keep entries friendly.  We will remove or edit out unsavoury content, but we prefer that you avoid posting it in the first place.  Remember that people of all kinds read these pages, and the Club is supposed to be a fun place to be.  Anyone who persists in leaving foul messages will be struck off the users list, Club member or not.

We hope you get involved with chatting here and find support with your repairs/restorations, friendship and entertainment.  Enjoy!
