Hi, Are there any companies that give discount for T2OC members please? If not, can anyone recommend a good one please? We're off to France for 2 weeks in July.

Hello Rattler

The club doesn't reccommend any particular company as they all seem to have some points that are better than others.

There are a few things to consider first - sometimes breakdown cover cn be economically added through your normal insurance company. Most insurers will coer standatd T2's as they are within the sixe and weight criteria they set.  Before you ring or go on line for a quote, make sure that you have the vehicle dimensions, weight and registration details to hand.

I have my European cover through Green Flag - if you join the CSMA (which is free) you get a discount with Green Flag. I chose Green Flag because my T4 Autotrail Apache is much longer than the standard beakdown services will cover.  I found Green Flay to be competitive but so far (touch wood) I have not had cause to use them.

I think the RAC also offer a good reliablle European service as I have heard good reports from a few members.

I hope this helps

Paul

Hi Rattler,

Go with with CSMA and Green Flag. We went to France for two weeks last year in the van and the best quote for the same level of cover was from them. RAC  & AA were very expensive and be be aware if your van is an import then the AA require all documentation including original registration documents for country of origin.

Hope this helps and have a good trip.

Cheers,

Rob.

you have to look very carefully at the small print, the euro cover offer that came with my specialistcamper insurance does not cover euro travel on vehicles over 15 years old, about as usefull as a chocolate teapot, the only one that does cover my 22 year old type 25 is the rac

Last year I went to Bilbao by ferry and toured south east Spain and then headed North through France to Le Havre. My cover was via the Camping and Caravanning club ( of which I'm a member) ,preferred partner, Europ Assistance. The proviso was that the van had to be main dealer maintained!!

I had to call for help once with a jammed starter motor which was dealt with on the spot. This year it seems they've moved the goalposts and I've been told that I won't get cover, although they are double checking right now.  Funnily enough the club are offering winter rallies in Europe (I wouldn't be going anyway) but it's very likely I wouldn't be covered. Not much joined up thinking going on here.
